This one-day online course provides a practical introduction to QGIS: a free, open-source Geographic Information System.
This course covers the core principles underpinning vector-based geographic data analysis and demonstrates the value of data interrogation, analysis and visualisation in a GIS environment. Short lectures will be interspersed with hands-on practical exercises throughout the day to take participants from an introduction to the software through the creation of professional outputs.
Attendees will have the opportunity to work with your own data and seek advice regarding your own projects throughout the day.
Is this course for me?
This course is aimed at participants who are new QGIS and want to learn the basics of navigating the programme, handling data, analysis and visualisation. Basic IT skills are required.
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- Source, download and load data into the QGIS environment.
- Prepare data sets for geographic analysis.
- Interrogate and query both spatial and none-spatial data.
- Apply a range of spatial analysis techniques.
- Create professional map outputs and visualisations.
